These paintings were painted on location. We artists think of it as "chasing the light" because the light, shadows, tides, skies, and colors are constantly changing. These paintings serve to inform me about all of the nuances in nature that photographs obliterate thus when I use photos for reference I am also relying on my plein air work and experiences to lend greater life to my work.
